Dreams from a Suitcase (Sogni dalla Valigia)

Dreams from a suitcase is a recipient of the 2010 Victorian History Award. This book was chosen from 175 entries in the category of best collaborative community work.

This award tops off a wonderful year for the Committee. The Yarra Valley Italian Cultural Group also received a certificate of Recognition in the Yarra Ranges Council Australia Day Awards 2010, for our outstanding contribution to the Yarra Ranges Community.

This book is a collection of short family stories from members of the Yarra Valley Italian community, acknowledging their memories of their childhood in Italy growing up, migrating to Australia and building a future here.

The Yarra Valley Italian Cultural Group commissioned this book as a response to the members of the Italian community who needed to recount their stories of their settlement in the region and that future generations would have a link to their past through their families’ story.
